Simon Laplante is a Vancouver based artist and community builder. For years he has been creating mannequins decorated with legos and also illuminates chicken head masks with legos. At a recent opening of his work  (that included 81 masks!), he also manufactured a mannequin for his old and new friends to adorn.

All of the new lego artists across age spans and backgrounds had a story to tell about their lego or other building toy experience. Some were about lego creations while others were with similar toys such as k’nee or meccano.  Still others told tales about times searching for salamanders under rocks in a creek.

As we searched through the bins of legos and found just the right piece to contribute to our group creation, we all got to know each other amidst all the beautiful creative art..
