In Kitchener, Ontario city planners have been exploring ways to increase the possibility for connections and how to make the city more livable for its citizens.
They have created incentives for patio areas at restaurants during summer months, created communal workspaces and done very simple things like created beautiful areas for people to share lunch together.
The City purchased 100 colorful patio sets and half of them are set up in different areas throughout the week. This lovely green space was transformed into lunchtime oasis. Sometimes it may take major initiatives, other times its simple ways and creative use of public space that help bring people together.
